CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers course is to teach those with a duty to act (professional rescuers) the knowledge and skills needed to respond appropriately to breathing and cardiac emergencies. This includes the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) to care for a victim experiencing cardiac arrest. Upon successful completion a valid 2 year digital certificate is issued.

This courses is offered in a few formats:

  • Instructor Led: All information is presented in person along with a skills practice session.
  • Blended learning: A portion of this class is done online at your own pace on your own schedule. The online portion must be completed prior to the in person component. The in person component focuses on skills practice and knowledge checks.
  • Think you can pass all the assessment scenarios without taking a course? Request a “challenge course.” Anyone is eligible to participate in a challenge course. This is the shortest and cheapest way to be certified, however, individuals who do not pass the assessment scenarios will not be allowed to re-challenge and must take the full course to be certified.

Class length depends on course format and the specific material being covered. Please see individual course descriptions for estimated class length.
